Merry Christmas!!!!
Let me pass this thought to you in regard to the real meaning of Christmas from Luke 2:25-30:

Luk 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

1. Simeon was a just and devout man (he was an upright man, fearing God and waiting for the comfort of Israel)
2. Waiting for the consolation of Israel. The promised Messiah.
3. The Holy Ghost was upon him.( To give him supernatural knowledge. It was revealed to him that he should see Christ.)

So what was Simeon so earnestly waiting for? What was it that was dictating the course of his life? He was waiting, we are told, for the "Consolation of Israel". The "Consolation of Israel" would be the answer to many prayers. The Consolation would bring comfort and solace. This was, in essence, the function and consequence of the Lord's life on earth. We read more about this promise of comfort and hope in the Gospel of John:
If you love Me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him or knows Him; but you know Him for He dwells with you and will be with you (John 14: 15-17).

4. Just as he was looking and expecting Jesus to come at anytime, so much we, His Church, be looking and longing for His soon return.
